A Touch And Go Situation!! Kakashi Vs Orochimaru
Kakashi binds Sasuke’s seal as he screams in pain and then falls unconscious. Immediately after, Orochimaru appears. He has come for Sasuke. Kakashi asks what Orochimaru’s intentions are. He replies that he, like Kakashi, wants the Uchiha clan powers - the Sharingan.
Meanwhile, Shino and Zaku continue their prelim elimination round. Shino remains unharmed by Zaku’s attack and calmly waits as bugs emerge form under his skin. Zaku watches in horror as Shino’s Kakai bugs soon surround him. With the bugs behind him and Shino in front, Zaku’s chances of winning are slimming. Kakai bugs attack their prey in groups and consume its chakra. Shino warns Zaku that if he doesn’t give up now, he will never fight again. Either he or the bugs, depending on his choice of action, will end this now.
Zaku recalls himself as a small boy who resorting to stealing bread to eat. One day, he was caught and several men beat him. Orochimaru watched the episode from the distance. When the men were gone, the boy fought back tears has he hungrily devoured the bread. After his meal, the boy walked outside where Orochimaru offered to train the boy to become stronger. The promise - fight for me and I will make you stronger. It took hours and hours of training to make it this far. He must live up to Orochimaru’s expectations.
Zaku decides to go for his final attack. He lifts both arms up - one pointed at Shino, the other at the Kakai bugs and attempts to perform Air Slicer. He laughs. His trump card was to make it seem as though he couldn’t use his right arm.
Meanwhile, Orochimaru admits to Kakashi that the recently made Hidden Village of Sound is under his control. Sasuke is the supreme piece of his plan to achieve his ambitions. Those fighting for him in the prelims are merely sacrifices.
Zaku prepares his attack to find that nothing is happening. He looks down at his hands to find the holes in his hands that release the Air Slicer force have been forcibly blocked by the Kakai bugs. The pressure is too great and his air cutter finds its release at Zaku’s elbows, thus breaking Zaku’s arms. Shino back knuckles Zaku to end the match.
Kakashi remains adamant in front of Sasuke. He threatens that he is ready to sacrifice his own life to kill Orochimaru. He then prepares his Lightning Edge attack to build up a lightning ball in his hand. Orochimaru taunts him, unafraid. He must know that there’s no point in using the seal. Sasuke is an avenger. He will seek power no matter what kind or how evil. He then mocks Kakashi for threatening his own life to kill him, taunting ‘try to kill me if you can’. With that, he leaves, leaving Kakashi to reflect on his own actions. He must have been mad to even think of sacrificing his own life.
Everyone is in awe of the mysterious Shino. Neji does a Byakugan to investigate Shino’s bodily makeup. He learns that Shino is of the clan that gives their bodies to bugs at birth. They then can control the Kakai bugs with their mind, and in exchange, allow the bugs to feed off their own chakra.
Meanwhile, Dosu and Kin look at their fallen teammate. Dosu explains that Shino must have stuffed bugs into Zaku’s air hole so that if he fired the Air Slicer in such a state, the energy accumulated would seek an exit and expand. The resulting force would find such an exit at his elbows. Now Zaku’s arms are useless. Dosu vows to avenge his loss.
Shino walks back to the group and tells his teammates he expects them to win as well. Soon, the next match is announced: Tsurugi Misumi vs. Kankurou. Kakashi appears to inform Naruto and Sakura that Sasuke is ok and resting in the hospital. He now has ANBU escorts.
Misumi warns that he will finish the match quickly. Unlike Yoroi, he won’t go easy on a kid.
